Although we haven't personlly eaten in this restaurant, we have heard very good reports about the food and from the website it looks like a great spot for a romantic dinner for 2. It is located a little out of town so you will need to book a taxi to get there. The restaurant can book a return taxi for you.

Bolzano Christmas markets and shopping

The Christmas markets are in Bolzano form the 27th Nov to 23rd Dec. The markets are a very European tradition and well worth a look. Bolzano also boasts some very glamerous shops with the post chirstmas sales running through January. There is a convenient parking station under Bolzano's main piazza. - Corvara

Corvara is a well known village over the Falzarago Pass from Cortina in Alta Badia. From Corvara you can access some excellent skiing. You can orgnise a tazi from Cortina, or better still you can ski there. The Armentarola piste from the top of the Lagazuoi mountain is recognised as one of the 10 best pistes in the world and is an intermediate run. Venice is about 2 hours away by car. A better option is to organise a stay in Venice before or after your stay in cortina.

Swimming Pool / wellness centre

There is a swimming pool and gym located in the Voraachi area of Cortina. Take the local bus 8a which will drop you there. Its about 1500m from the centre of town. The pool is open 1700 - 2100 most days, but check with your hotel for more information.

Ice Skating and Ice Hockey

The Olympic Ice Stadium was built to host the on-ice sports disciplines of 7th Winter Olympics in 1956, and it was "in the open air". Nowadays, it has a roof. They even have disco ice danceing once a week - only in italy! The stadium is also used for national hockey chmapionship matches which are played over winter. If you have never been to a hockey match we can highly recommend it. The stadium is located near the Tofana cable car station at Via dello Stadio 1. you can take local bus 8 or 8a.

Bob sled rides

Cortina was home to the 1956 Winter Olympics and has an awesome bod sled track. The brave (no expreience required) can experience a decent with Taxi Bob - They supply everything (including the pilot) and you go along for the ride.

There are a number of excellent snow shoe excursions around cortina. If you would like to prebook this befor you leave please contact us. Generally a group size of 3-5 is required. If you prefer to book when you arrive in Cortina, you can contact the Guide Alpino at Corso Italia 69A.

X-Country Skiing

There are a series of trails up and down the valley from Cortina ranging from easy through to world cup standard. There is a full listing of tracks at www.dolomiti.org If you would like to do some thing a little different you can ski the old railway line form Cortina to Dobbiaco. This is 30 km and rated easy. There are rgular bus servcies betweeen Dobbiaco and Cortina daily. X-country skis can be hired from Snow Service (www.snowservice.it)

This is a very pleasant wine bar / restaurant located in Largo delle Poste 17. They have an extensive selection of regional wines as well as wines from further afield. A great place to go before or after dinner or for a light meal

Located towards the centre of Corso Italia near the church tower, the bar has a great selection of pastires and gelato, good coffee and drinks. An ideal place to try a prosecco (local bubbles) or vin brule after skiinng or for a monring coffee and snack.

Rifuio Lagazuoi

This famous rifugio is well out of town on the Falzarago Pass. It sits on top of the Lagazoui mountain and the views are breathtaking. Your superski pass covers the cable car up and you can either ski or take the cabel car back down. See the skiing section for ski tips in this fabulous araa. There are several buses up and back each day - check with the tourist information or your hotel for the current timetables. Highly recommended - You can also stay at the riguio overnight. Local ski buses

It is a good idea to pick up a timetable for the ski buses from the tourist information office or your hotel. All the bus stops usually have a timetable on them. Don't expect the buses to be on time, especially in peak periods in the afternoon. Ski buses are free and go just about everywhere you would wnat to go in town.
